Cuba Libre - Cuban Cocktail

Cuba Libre

Recipe

  • 1 measurement unit of Cuban rum (brown or  white, depending on taste)
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon or lime (depending on taste, lemon is more sour, lime is sweeter)
  • Cola

 

Preparation

  • Fill a highball glass with ice cubes.
  • Add rum and lemon or lime juice.
  • Stir well and finally top up with Cola.
  • Garnish with a slice of lemon.

  • The name Cuba Libre dates back to 1898 when Cuba gained its independence from Spain through support of the USA.
  • This drink delivered new freedom, which means that the recipe originated from US American solders.
  • This cocktail is also known in English-speaking countries under the name of "rum and coke".
