Cuban Link, also known as "Lyrical Assasin" and popular among his fans for his originality and the use of street-slang and multi-syllabic rhymes, began with Rap and Hip-Hop at the age of 15, although, at the beginning, it was very hard for him to gain recognition in this scene.
Cuban Link, whose real name is Felix Delgado, was born in 1974 in Havana, Cuba. Iin 1980, his family moved to the United States, more precisely to Bronx in New York, where he, as a kid, was exposed to the influence of Hip-Hop-culture.
Hard times
Cuban Link certainly had to go through some hard times: his career was at its lowest point after the death of his best friend Pun on the 7th of February in the year 2000. His songs were not that successful anymore, besides, he began having problems with Fat Joe based on the decisions mentioned above, and on top of that he lost his contract with Atlantic Records.
His career and popularity went really down and he was even attacked in one of his favorite New York clubs, in which his face was cut.
That year Cuban recorded his first single "Flowers For The Dead" , as a tribute to Pun.
Release of the album "Chain Reaction"
2005 Cuban Link was determined to put his career back on track and to get back into the music scene. He released his album "Chain Reaction" on the 16th of August. In that album came the song “Talk About It” by Swizz Beatz together with Jakadiss as well as another song by Swizz called "Shakedown" in which he used trombone sounds combined with mediaeval singing.
He dedicated his song “The Letter to Pun” to Pun, saying that his spirit would always be there. It is a sign of gratitude to one of the most important persons that influenced Cuban's life and career.
Joint projects of Cuban Link
He did his joint projects with Don Omar by producing the reggaeton song "Scandalous".
The recent rumors are that Cuban Link could be working together with "50 Cent" and could record Fat Joe's "diss song". Besides, Tony Yayo, a member of "G-Unit" band, which is popular among 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Young Buck and Tony Yaho himself, might make this Latino rapper a member of his band.
