Wisin y Yandel

Juan Morera and Llandel Vegilla, known under the name of Wisin y Yandel, represent one of the most successful bands in the reggaeton scene. Their style clearly differs from that of others and partially contains certain features of other music styles. It allows them to reach a large audience of any age and any skin color.

Wisin y Yandel come from Isla del Encanto, Puerto Rico. Ever since they were little, they were exposed to the influence of such pioneers of reggaeton as Vico C and El General.

Style and musical influence of Wisin y Yandel

Their music and lyrics are highly original and deep, clearly distinguishing these two from the rest of the reggaeton artists. Their family support is the main motivation and inspiration for Wisin y Yandel, a tangible topic in their mix of balero and reggaeton. But what really unites them is the love of music, which becomes obvious in such successful songs as "Rákata" and "Mayor que yo".

First joint projects and their own first record

in 1998 these talented musicians decided to give it a try in rap and reggae and took part in DJ Dicky's Production "No Fear 3". That year they also worked on "Mission Vol.1" production, which was sold in over 50.000 copies winning the gold record. Their first production "Los Reyes Del Nuevo Milenio" was released in the year 2000.

At the end of 2005 came their last production "Pal' Mundo", which contained their collaborations with friends and colleagues, such as Grupo Aventura, Daddy Yankee, Don Omar and Hector El Bambino.

Nominations for diverse awards

Wisin y Yandel were the first rappers to be nominated for prestigious Billboard Award and to receive gold records for all of their productions. In 2002 they won "Tu Música" award.

Wisin y Yandel, society-conscious singers

Wisin y Yandel are not just musicians, they are also very society-conscious. They cooperate with numerous charitable organizations, such as Asociación Carlos Arroyo, SER de Puerto Rico and Hogar de Niños con SIDA (children with AIDS ).
