Ivy Queen

Ivy Queen, also known under the name of "La Caballota", and Mey Vidal were the first female artists in reggaeton scene, which is mostly dominated by male performers.

Her first record: "En mi Imperio"
Ivy Queen's first record "En mi Imperio" came out in 1997. Domingo Quiñones and Dayanara Torres also took part in this production. Their singles "Pon Atención" and "Como Mujer" were awarded gold and platinum records.

The same year Ivy Queen received an Artistas ’97 award, which made her the most popular rapper among teenagers.

The second record: "The Original Rude Girl"
The huge success of that time got her a contract with the multinational concern Sony in 1998, which released her second record "The Original Rude Girl". She worked together with Chezina and Alex D'Castro on such songs as "The King and the Queen" and "La Realidad" and with rapper Wyclef Jean on "Interlude in the zone".

In 2000 Ivy Queen decided to go back to New York, where she worked on diverse joint projects and productions like: "Boricuas NY", "DJ Nelson the Flow", "Kilates" or "The Magestic".

Further music projects

In 2003 came her third album "Diva", which was produced by Real Music. She worked together with such musicians as Don Omar, El Mexicano and K-7.

In 2004, as her career was already stable, came "Diva Platinum Edition" as Best-of-Album with many of her international successes from the last years. Among those were, for example: "Papi te quiero", "Me acostumbré", "Tú no puedes" and "Quiero bailar".

Her "Real" album appeared on an international market at the end of the same year. Her first two singles were "La Chica Ideal" and "Rociarlos". Ivy Queen made a video of the latter together with Héctor El Bambino.

In 2005 came out "Flashback" and "The best of Ivy Queen", in 2006 the "Sentimiento" album.
